Neville “NATO” Brown
The story behind NATO Entertainment begins with Caribbean culture, community, music, and a lifelong commitment to keeping the spirit of the islands alive in Montreal.
From Trinidad to Montreal, from community voice to cultural promoter.
Neville Brown was born on October 30, 1942, in Morne Diablo, Trinidad, and immigrated to Montreal in 1976. A welder by trade, he soon expanded his impact far beyond his profession.
In 1985, he became an entrepreneur, launching a community newspaper called Canada Weekend Post, later known as Montreal Camera, which served as a voice for the Caribbean diaspora. His love for culture and storytelling eventually led him to become a promoter and founder of NATO Entertainment, producing Caribbean events across Montreal — from vibrant Calypso and comedy shows to uplifting gospel concerts.
Neville was also one of the original organizers of Montreal’s Carifete parade and a founding member of the West-Can Folk Performing Company, two cornerstones of Caribbean cultural expression in the city.
“I enjoy seeing Caribbean culture in Montreal and love teaching it.”
For nearly five decades, Neville has been a beloved presence in the community — sharing the spirit of Trinidad and the wider Caribbean with joy, passion, and unwavering dedication. A proud father of eight, Neville Brown continues to inspire all those who know him, reminding us of the power of culture, community, and heart.
